Country Singer Tim McGraw ejected a fan from his concert at the California Mid-State Fair last month stating that the fan was being abusive to the woman who was accompanying him. McGraw made it clear to the fan and the crowd that you simply “don’t treat a woman like that.”

The news has caused quite a stir in the anti-violence world, although popular media hasn’t really caught on.

What can we, as anti-violence advocates, do to make sure that these stories of men taking a stand against violence become popular in our community?

How can we utilize stories such as these to discuss bystander intervention strategies that focus on survivor empowerment?

How can we politicize pop culture to end violence against women?
